Bei diesem Text handelt es sich um ein Kurzreferat für das Fach Englisch zu einem beliebigen Thema: I would like to tell you some of the secrets of toilet paper and how to use it correctly. First of all we should have a look at a well-known brand. Its name is "Servus". Why on earth did the producer choose such a name? On the one hand "Servus" is a Latin word, which means "slave" and on the other hand it means "hello and goodbye". What may we conclude from that? It goes without saying that I can't bring home to you in 30 seconds how all other cultures cope with the problem of toilet paper. That's why I confine myself to countries like India, Greece and Germany. Well and now I need your attention, folks, because we want to have a closer look at India. As your surely know most of the Indians have only a bucket full of water next to their toilets. You want to know why? They don't want to use toilet paper. And as Indians always eat with their right hand, you can well imagine why the bucket is on the left side of the toilet. So people who visit India should never eat with their left hand. The Greeks have their own way of getting rid of their toilet paper after wiping their bottoms: They throw the soiled paper into a rubbish bin next to the toilet. Well, and now who is in charge of taking down the bucket today? Last but not least let's focus on the economical Germans who were keen on finding a lot of useful information on their toilet paper before and after the war. Necessity was the mother of invention! They cut their newspapers into smaller pieces, pierced a cord through it and hung it up on the wall. A new way of spreading the news in mirror writing! © Laura Rumich 9b |
